The Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC) played a prominent role at the 28th Forum on Marine Resources and Aquaculture in the Galician Rías (ForoAcui), held on 1 and 2 October in O Grove.
The institute’s participation culminated in the award for the best panel, presented to a project focusing on the development of a more sustainable form of aquaculture that is better prepared for climate change.
The award-winning paper, entitled ‘Towards a more sustainable Galician aquaculture sector that is better prepared for climate change: Thermal acclimatisation of Saccharina latissima and its application in Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture systems’, received the first prize at ForoAcui, worth 250 euros. Its authors include IIM-CSIC researchers Gonzalo del Olmo, Jorge C. Santamaría and José Pintado, alongside researchers from other institutions.
