Aquaculture plays a vital role in ensuring European food security thanks to the nutritional excellence of its products.
This was one of the ideas put forward at the National Aquaculture Congress, held in Vigo in early June.
Furthermore, the Congress gave us the opportunity to raise awareness of CLIRAQUA.
This was led by Gonzalo Del Olmo Berenguer and José Pintado from the Instituto de Investigacións Mariñas – CSIC.
At the event, we explained that we are an initiative, coordinated by the CICA UDC Centro Interdisciplinar de Química e Bioloxía, which aims to strengthen the resilience of Atlantic aquaculture in the face of climate change.
Specifically, we aim to reduce the vulnerability of aquaculture species and environments to rising temperatures, increased salinity and declining water quality.
